Does anyone have an answer to the “why” did this happen?I live In a Small town (aren’t they all?) in NW MT.Yesterday at 1:00pm, gas was $4.38. At 4:00pm same station was listed at $4.59. WTH? I don’t get this at all. 🤬

@Linnie Love it when they raise the price of the gas that is already in their storage tanks.......Don't you feel as if you are a customer at a house of ill repute and you've just been sc...ed!

@Eiualumni @Linnie Supply and demand. Biden policies. Do you really think every gas station owner-operator is interested in raping his own customer base?

@Linnie I live in Maine and heat my home with heating fuel oil. In November 2020 heating oil cost 1.60/gallon. It now costs over $6.00/gallon. A 140 gallon delivery costs me $616 more than it did in 2020. FJB!

@Linnie Stations pay more for fuel deliveries - also need to have the cash to pay for the replenishment When diesel prices go up, it costs more the deliver gasolineWhen the station owner knows the replenishment will cost more than what they have in storage, they either raise the price on what they have left in stock or else they'll have to dip into operating capital

@karnage @Eiualumni As Garry explained, he probably raised the price on the existing gas in the storage tanks, to pay for the new delivery of fuel that costs more because diesel fuel goes up every day too. This is horrible. Small town little market is barely getting by.

@Linnie @Eiualumni It also goes the other way when prices drop. Back in Trumpen times, fuel station owners had gas in their storage tanks that they bought at higher prices, then had to sell at a loss.

@Lou Thank you so much, Lou. I really had no idea about any of this, and the brilliant quods (who KNOW how things work) came through. Now I can educate my friends on the “why” of price hikes that occur within a few hours of each other. I hope you can weather this storm. Blessings to you. Ps. We ONLY have “little guy” operators in my town. We support them instead of driving 30 miles to the “big town.”
