Central planning doesn't scale and the only solution will be capitalism.You want to stop global warming? Find a better way than Bitcoin to incentivize the use of methane that can't be captured or an economically sustainable way to fund new renewable energy production.Having a government say "WE WILL SOLVE THIS" and print money to throw at it won't fix anything.Fundamentally it needs to be economically viable or you will destroy countries with systemic collapse.There is literally not enough money in the world to get us off oil even if we had the resources ready to deploy right now. The cost of the number of nuclear plants we would need to spin up if the uranium was already purified is more than the entire world's GDP.You cannot solve this issue by simply protesting and appealing to your government officials. I'm sorry.

@SlaytheSystem Trust is religion. Trust the science is religion and not science. Consensus is politics. Politics and religion are tools to understand our place on the world and how it functions. Politics is social and religion are moral aspects of the physical world. Science is understanding the physical aspects of it. Science is performing the scientific method. If you didn’t perform it but trust someone else that claims to, it isn’t science but faith.

@average_random_joe @SlaytheSystem But science can't tell you what to do. It can merely inform about what can be done. Whether it should be done is a moral / ethical issue that falls outside of the science's domain. This includes engaging in the scientific method itself.

What effects are beneficial or should be attained is religion and the causes to enact to get there are politics. Use any tool outside of that methodology and you have disaster and at the very least look retarded.

And how do all scientists in the world collaborate on the same one?If you're referring to IPCC reports, they're published in ~6 year intervals, and the models they relied on were rather inaccurate compared to empirical evidence in the past.Also, climate-related deaths are at historic lows these days. There's no cause for abandoning reason and giving in to panic and fear.

@raucao @SlaytheSystem Of course their is a reason to give into fear and anger. With legacy media fear sells and if it bleeds it leads riling your adrenaline to get that, it’s easy if you partake in the propaganda to fall into that trap - especially if you are focused and diligently watching for it. That emotion is how you stay a part of the lynch mob and once you have that tiger by the tail, it is costly to let go.
