In an interview, you've got to do the equivalent of wearing a wedding ring. Namedrop other companies you've been interviewing with. Bring up perks and benefits because the only reason you're even considering working for a small insignificant firm like this is because of the bennies. The last thing you want to do is come off as some hungry kid who will work for peanuts and take shit from anybody. Those are a dime a dozen.

When candidates have been conditioned to blinker themselves to any knowledge of the labor market as part of being “professional” (which means whatever the recruitment mill wants it to mean) then they’ll subject themselves to all kinds of fake bargaining-behavior games, to their ultimate detriment.

Anything that gets more candidates through the client’s interview process before another recruiter can place them or they can place themselves is a Good Thing, even if it means the candidate ends up with a lower salary or other benefits overall.Better to share in a lower pay packet than not get paid at all! In no other industry other than recruitment can your inventory hop off your shelf and go sell itself at some other shop.

@dew_the_dew they had a YouTuber who studies econ or something who did a video on the "workers shortage" and it turns out that it's almost all a complete lie. The dude crafted three different resumes, sent them out to ~50 jobs each. Avg call back number was .... 4. Yes he sent out 50 job applications and only got a call back for 4 for each resume. I figured I'm free to work as I please, leave when/if I wanted (NOLA was like 3 months lol) etc.Now though? You realize these HR types are not going to inquire. They see 'XYZ Temp Inc' over a large enough swath of time & they aren't going to ask questions like "how often did you work with XYZ?" or what your rating is/was.I averaged 35 hours a week despite wanting to work 5+ days, have a 5 star rating etc...they don't care. I'm getting raise after raise because who gives a fuck man, he makes the company so much money it doesn't matter. So now, the Owner/CEO hires his brother in law who is "going through a rough patch" and this guy instantly decides that he hates my guts. Sucks to be him, right? Wrong. Now every fuckin day when I'm working, he's hanging out in his relative's office telling him how I'm actually the cause of every real or imagined problem in the company. Now I'm getting called in to answer for shit I have no control over and being threatened over my "poor performance", even though not a goddamn thing has changed. I saw the handwriting on the wall and got the fuck out of Dodge.
