if you reward yourself for noticing things you usually don't notice, you can train your brain to get better at it. this will increase your general awareness. in other words, you'll become more conscious.

@thor goid idea. i think that is worth a shot. 1) what would you reward yourself with? (a choc-bar?) 2) how do you decide what novelty would be worth a reward?

@thor I've noticed Neuro-Typical people are generally less conscious than ND's. It's like they are 90% on autopilot 90% of the time.

@der_haken it's a bit of a feedback loop in a way.you have start off by making guesses about what you're bad at noticing. usually, you're bad at noticing things that you dislike, fear or are bored by.and then concentrate on it. intently direct your focus on that thing for a while, contemplate it, examine it.you have to challenge yourself a little, basically.and once you've faced that bit of discomfort, you can have a snack, take a shower, watch a movie, anything you personally enjoy counts as a reward.

@der_haken and within what you're concentrating on, try to notice details about it, try to figure out what is happening, what it is you're looking at. "what is this, really?" but without thinking too much about it. just use your senses.

@der_haken it helps if you pretend you're a sniper and you're calmly aiming.

@der_haken it sounds a bit spooky, but you're just learning to observe.
