@kev oh no! My website is using ghost at the moment; it's a selfhosted version though. But even if they're annoyed at some tweets it's weird a company would do something like this! 😮

@badrihippo I've seen lots of chatter about the Tumblr devs potentially integrating ActivityPub to Tumblr. That could work, and Mullenweg has a long history of supporting FOSS.I genuinely think he's one of the few big tech CEOs that actually gives a damn about FOSS and the culture behind it.

@Gina @kev I looked at Ghost way back when but it never clicked with me, even before seeing this post. It’s not the first I’ve read about the CEO having an attitude problem. I also don’t like that Ghost gave up its original focus on blogging and shifted to monetization of your platform.No thanks.

@kev nevermind. Read the article. I agree with some points and disagree with others.John shouldn't have taken down the site the way he did, but people don't check their emails for a week? Who is that? Especially when you're working on something.Also, why is this on a Wayback Machine Link? Did the author take it down for a reason?

@rysiek @seth maybe the author thought better of it once they calmed down abs removed the post? I have no idea.I agree that the right course of action here was to either upgrade if he needed that many folks, or reduce the folks.However…My point here is about John’s clear disregard for his customer. And giving someone a week isn’t great; I know plenty of people who would have missed that email.

@kev I can’t say I’m surprised. A year ago I was building a Ghost theme for a couple of websites I launched. Ghost removed a bunch of features overnight in complete violation of their own policies wrt features deprecation. I loudly complained on their forum. He deleted my post and basically told me *I* was at fault because I used features they recently launched. Like I’m sorry?
