I see we can’t blame ppl for calling our country ‘Holland’ since we even use Holland.com :bloblaugh: But uh.. little FYI!It’s NOT #Holland but The #Netherlands 🇳🇱 ‘Holland’ are just two of the twelve provinces. See image, ‘North- & South Holland’

@stux About 40 miles northwest of me is Holland Michigan. It's exactly what you would expect. Everything Netherlands Everywhere All The Time. They make it a matter of pride, in your face pride. You can't avoid it pride. Waggle Waggle Even Got The Names Right And Flags, Too... sort of pride. :) All of the provinces, too. :) The tulips, the shoes, the pottery, you name it, it's likely a smaller version of what makes the Netherlands the Netherlands. Even a working windmill... you can buy custom flours from.

@stux I used to live in Tilburg, and I spoke to several Dutch people who were like "eh, I think we've lost this battle". But I want people to use "Britain/England/UK" accurately, so I'm still up for fighting the good fight to get people to use "Netherlands" :)

@stux with the exception of England/UK I can't think or a similarly occuring misnomer. I guess the dominance of the region just led to it's usage.

@stux I tried to explain this to my brother in law a while ago (we are in England); I said that it was like calling all of England ‘Yorkshire’, which is a large,single county split into four regions. It didn’t work, he still calls The Netherlands ‘Holland’…you just can’t help some people 🤨
