I know there was something to do with tension between Gear and certain poa.st members and poa.st features made specifically so Gear could RT Twitter content. Whether or not Gear left on good or bad terms, I imagine he'd have started Gearlandia regardless. He's friends with Sapphire and both are inclined to bootstrapping. And Gearlandia's community outside of Gear are people who were never in poa.st.PLR is it's own matter and poa.st are completely in the right on that. BlinkRape posted what looked like actual CP and then threatened to post more CP to flex his "control" over poa.st. All because graf was kindly offering him a real checkmark if he would only change his name from "Ethical Pedophile" (which violates poa.st's rules on promoting child sex abuse) to something else. For whatever reason, s8n took BlinkRape's side.I don't think any other instance would put up with that shit.

Graf was already a popular figure in the Twitter aniright and he more or less brought his friends over with him. Poa.st has been around since 2019 but got big because of January 6th purges.
