@nenyoko Sure!The EU Commission have setup their own (closed) Mastodon instance so they can post directly to the #Fediverse without Twitter👌🏻♥️It’s not an open instance just for ‘them’ so they can post news from a legit source, their own!

@nenyoko@mastodon.online @stux@mstdn.social the fediverse has microblogging services, like mastodon, pleroma or misskey - which is similar to twitter.the servers are interconnected and exchange their messages (unlock you block communication with specific or all other servers)so in that regard you can say yes.but the fediverse supports more then just short messages, there if pixelfed (similar to instagram), peertube (similar to youtube) or friendica (similar to facebook).each of those services use the same network like mastodon and the likes (coined fediverse, for federated universe). and usually all those other services can follow the non micro blogging services as well (e.g. @islieb@pixelfed.de - you can see it on your mastodon host, but this is pixelfed, the instagram thing)TL;DR: yes and no.everyone can run their own instance (server), its the part after the second @. but if the admin doesnt disallow communication, you can communicate with people from other instances at any time.the federation and the different types of providers are the biggest difference to twitter.you can lock your own instance to people you want there without locking people creating accounts and following you.the german gov does have an instance too btw https://social.bund.de/about

@stux this video sorta encapsulates why I was so willing to immediately leave the Bird Site when Elon took over, everything is driven by outrage. This video will get 1000x as many clicks as one just talking about the EU instance because being correct and well researched is boring while making shit up and purposefully ignoring contradictory evidence drives the views.
