@stux @Kichae @TerryHancock It's the Catch-22 that causes most new social media sites to fail. You need just enough people to sign up all at once to keep people's timelines moving at a steady but manageable clip.

@stux @Kichae @TerryHancock It's the Catch-22 that causes most new social media sites to fail. You need just enough people to sign up all at once to keep people's timelines moving at a steady but manageable clip, but you can't attract people if there aren't enough people.

@stux love seeing the growth! Just in the first five days of our Canadian instance being up and open to all we've seen 14 registrations.The community feels so welcoming - kind of like how Twitter was in the 2007-2008 era! (yes, I remember a time before the hashtag!)

@stux That is fantastic growth! I wonder how things have been looking for the other major instances, including the one I joined (mastodon.online). I am assuming that most new people would have joined either .social or .online.
