@charlag @schratze As a #Christian, in retrospect I do feel kinda bad saying "yay, these people are dead!" Celebrating people's death isn't a super Christiany thing to do lol. But I'm certainly down to celebrate the fact that their reigns came to an end.

@schratze @charlag #Hitler was a terrible guy. Famously very racist (particularly but not solely antisemitic) and authoritarian. He killed millions of people IIRC, enslaved and maimed countless others and brought his country to ruin. I can't think of a single good thing that he's done.

@schratze @charlag I do wish I could celebrate his death but IDK, I feel like celebrating the death of people goes against Biblical principles. I'm certainly down to celebrate the end of his reign, like I said before, and if he was, say, instead, arrested and sentenced to death, I could definitely support him getting justice, but I just don't think I'm in a place to celebrate the death of any human being

@realcaseyrollins @charlag calling Hitler a human being is really stretching that definition. Other top nazis were executed by hanging after the Nuremberg trails. Hitler definitely would have been killed there if he had made it to the trials alive. And the executioner was a punk who made sure that the nazis suffered on the gallows. Hitler was lucky he killed himself before found through that.I don't wanna live in the world where there was any kind of redemption for Hitler. Fascists are trying to whitewash his image still to this day, even when there's nothing in the real world to base that on. If Christianity is right and there is a heaven and a hell, then Hitler is burning in the deepest pits of hell now.

@schratze @charlag I agree with all that. My position is a little more nuanced that I think you perceive it to be: I support people getting what they deserve, as #Hitler did in this case, but I do not celebrate death specifically. Same as I support the death penalty, but never revel in its usage. Does that make sense?I just want to clarify that I'm not at all attempting to glorify #Hitler here, I'm specifically stating that I don't celebrate death for religious reasons.

@un_blaze I have literally never before heard of the word punk being used as a homophobic slur. I'd like to learn more about when/how it's used in that context. I called the executioner a punk because he was a guy who did nothing but drink and smoke, who basically never washed and who had a hard time following any kind of command structure in the US military. He came several hours late to at least one of the executions he did and he constructed the gallows himself, in such a way that the nazis had to hit their heads on the way down and there was a large chance of the neck not being snapped successfully.

@un_blaze punk is a generally positive term but I think it has been used in derogatory ways against men who are not stereotypically masculine. I'm not aware of it being used as a primarily anti-gay pejorative tho, and most negative connotations of the word have nearly completely evaporated by now.Also I think @schratze was saying #Hitler wasn't human from a moral sense but my problem with saying that is, dehumanizing ideological enemies legitimizes violence and murder when it might not be warranted. Keeping it to a simple "this man committed atrocities, he deserves to die" is different than saying "subhumans deserve to die, #Hitler is subhuman because he committed atrocities, therefore he deserves to die", primarily because there can be many ways one can give somebody the designation of "subhuman". Now I'm not 100% sure if that's where @schratze was going with that but that could certainly be derived from what was said and I take issue with that.
