@matrixsasuke Hiya. I'm new to mastodon and joined a fairly populated instance. Any particular reason you suggest joining a smaller one once I know how it all works?

@paulligas mastodon.social is overloaded with new users at the moment (once again).mastodon.online is fine imo.

@paulligas i meant specifically how federation works and what it is. I imagine that many just replace twitter.com with mastodon.social in their browser and expect things to work. And usually they do, but that's not the end of the story of decentralization of course...

@matrixsasuke Yeah, I think i do need to find out how federation works and what people do here (and what I can do). I'm coming from twitter, though i haven't abandoned it yet. I'm expecting Mastodon to be a bit different
