anytime anyone has offered me suggestions as to how to apply myself, it's always some kind of product or service that is desired by businesses or consumers.neatly packaged and arranged things that are the end result of a process of specialised labour.because this is all we're used to paying for. we don't pay for things humans tend to produce in their natural state.

@cmyrland usually rather simple things that people need in tribal societies. they're not very precisely engineered or refined. things we need to hunt and gather.

@cmyrland you don't need very specialised skills to produce them, and they typically don't take very long to make. and they're things anyone can learn to make.

@cmyrland in industrial societies, when people make these things, they're usually treated as gifts.

@cmyrland have you ever noticed how "money" and "job title" isn't on Maslow's hierarchy of needs?

@thor because maslow is about basic human needs, not how societies are formed. Maslow doesn't mention electricity or wifi either, but here we are.I get where you're going with all this, but since the agricultural revolution, specialized skills are very much necessary. If we were to "roll back" to hunting and gathering, QoL would drastically decrease, and you'd be spending much less time doing what you want to be doing, and much more time simply trying to survive.

@cmyrland i have looked carefully and there really isn't anything special i want to do. but i would like to survive, by helping others to survive.

@cmyrland i have really been trying to do this unconsciously the entire time. i'm unusually stubborn about it. which is why i'm not really a part of society at the moment. i'm looking for something else. i have nothing here.

@cmyrland i've pretty much been rejected in every way a society can reject you, short of being homeless.i am not being rewarded for who i am in this place, and it broke me down, and then it reset my thinking.
