       If this is the one issue you have with it, don’t overrely on DMs I guess –  I treat this as a public space, pretty much. If that doesn’t suit you, oh well, wait for the E2E protocol that Mastodon already has the foundational groundwork for to be implemented on the apps.But discarding the whole thing entirely as if it’s unfixable, is like, are you SURE you don’t just want FOSS to fail here?????

       I know I’m asking Twitter users to be rational and practical here, but in this case these are people who ARE well-informed. People who SHOULD be putting their stakes on this. So it’s really striking to me.

       Also just to be clear, this isn’t really making me feel like today’s been a failure. Quite the opposite, I’ve seen more people join in these past weeks than in a whole 1-2 year period! But I kinda feel people just hate even having to consider changing habits in any meaningful way. Even those who would otherwise fully support it.
