"Rennovation" consists in demolishing a stone Gothic building that was built anywhere from 1900-1960 and then replacing it with a shitty building like the ones above. @LouisConde @becassine I saw this happen to an Episcopal Church in my old hometown. They have an online, very detailed church history. You can see it starting to fall apart in the mid 80s, then just accelerating in the 90s and 00s. The congregation numbers fall off. It culminates in getting a female pastor. Half of the congregation leaves and starts up their own church in a downtown storefront, eventually moving to an old, inactive black Baptist church building. I just read the other day that the original church is getting two new ministers, and one of them stated explicitly that they wanted to be LGBT+ friendly. This congregation dates from about 1815, and the church building itself from about 1830.

A Lutheran church near me has an American flag, a gay flag and the UN flag outside the front entrance.I don’t know why they did that, just one flag with “you know the antichrist makes some good points” written on it would have sufficed.

@exodus34 @becassine @CoQ_10 @LouisConde Yeah, at least there are relatively sound Lutheran denominations. There may be some okay Anglicans somewhere but they are definitely a tiny minority.

@johnnyappleseed @becassine @CoQ_10 @LouisConde Conservative Anglicans just aren't in the official Communion. The ACNA is the best offshoot in North America and it's like 90% orthodox. Big home for the Anglocath movement. Although even they leave female ordination up to the discretion of the bishops as a compromise.

@becassine @johnnyappleseed @CoQ_10 @LouisConde A lot of Western Orthodoxy are breakoffs from traditional Anglicanism, but a lot of them do just become Catholics too. The Novus Ordo liturgy is more or less designed to make Anglicans more comfortable.

@johnnyappleseed @CoQ_10 @becassine @LouisConde A lot of Christianity just lost its effing mind in the 60's and the Anglican Communion got the worst of it, mostly because its status as the Church of the wealthy and upper middle class in the English speaking world.There are a lot of reasons for it, largely deliberate CIA/Israeli infiltration, but the roots were already there. England has been on the bleeding edge of acceptable Christianity for its entire history. There were only about 300 years under the Catholic Church where it answered to the Bishop of Rome.
