@TornadoOfTerror User score isn't as bad as critic score but tends to attract downvote brigades, especially for popular games. The games with the highest user scores are beloved niche games that fly under the radar of the downvote trolls. That being said, even accounting for that effect good games still consistently have a net positive user score, a negative score is usually a sign of something being significantly wrong with it.

@Jens_Rasmussen @TornadoOfTerror It's a chore in a lot of places. I have to really push myself to keep playing at times. It's just not all that compelling. I feel like 90% of it is stuff I've seen before, and the level design just isn't as great as previous games. There's a lot of times I put in effort and resources to reach a certain area and the loot is something I don't give a shit about, like a crossbow or an item for a magic oriented character. I want to play a strength build but the game doesn't feel like it wants me to. Seems like the vast majority of weapons I find are dex or magic oriented. Exploration got boring as soon as I realized how easy it was to cheese enemies with the horse. Dogs are bullshit enemies, just like in every FS game.I haven't beat it yet, but so far I'd probably put it at a 6. Feels like more effort went into making things look grand and beautiful instead of making the game fun. That said, I know I'm probably in the minority on this one.

@TornadoOfTerror Elden Ring has the MC profile of a really good popular game like BOTW or Super Mario Odyssey, and I'd expect the user score for Elden Ring to creep back up as the trolls move on. Something like Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Sky has mediocre critic reviews but a user score of 9. It's a great game but I wouldn't say it's better than the first two games I listed, just has a lower profile.

@DK_Dharmaraj @TornadoOfTerror @Free_Idealist @Jens_Rasmussen Elden ring is good for what it is. An open world dark souls game that somehow manages to pull it off despite its massive scale. I would it’s a great game but not from soft greatest work. Dark souls 1 is near a perfect game as anyone could make and Bloodborne is also in the same league imo.I personally loved dark souls 3 but some people saw it as a step back. I never really dabbled with ds2 because it was made by the B team and looks it.

The maps are still pretty bland by actual open world standards and people were freaking out over Volo being a mildly challenging final boss. When Gamefreak makes a turd people still buy and defend it, and when they make a good game people call it GOTY.

@Buckbreaker4fun @DK_Dharmaraj @Jens_Rasmussen @TornadoOfTerror I would consider Shadow of the Colossus to be flawless. I can't think of any flaws with Metro: Exodus, or RDR2. MGS3. Titanfall 2. Morrowind is pretty close. Fallout 2. Crash Team Racing. XCOM 2. There's a lot out there in each genre. I would consider any game that successfully achieves what it was aiming for to be flawless, so long as everything works properly. The issue with Dark Souls is that it's simply not a finished game, and the devs would tell you as much. You can say you enjoyed Lost Izalith as much as you want, and I won't ever believe you. It's a terrible area full of reused enemies. And performance issues like those in Blighttown should never make it into the final product. I'd love to hear what you found enjoyable about the gimmick in the Seath fight, or about fighting the Asylum demon for a third time. And what was so great about the way everything was disconnected after obtaining the Lordvessel?

I liked lost izelith, I don’t care that I fight asylum demon clones 3 times because it has a lot of variety in other bosses. I liked that seats fight had a gimmick because it was part of the games lore. The world doesn’t feel disconnected because of the lord vessel and seems like an arbitrary complaint to begin with. Do you seriously expect the pinnacle anor londo to have an elavator to fire link shrine?
