@Crux_Invictus You know that hitler quote that's along the lines of "they (jews) will make it seem like they've understood your position, but the next day will be arguing the same points as if the previous day had never happened" something like thatThere's too many people on this site that behave like that in these hellthreadsThe argument never progresses or goes anywhere and you're just going around in circlesThey do all they can to prevent the argument progressing in any way and even try to say you're in the wrong for doing soIt's one thing if a person "progressing" means they have red herrings that take you so far away from the original point you're arguing something different now, but that's not what was happening here. How people can go through life behaving like this, I will never know, but Lord help whoever has to deal with them on a regular basis.

@TheVeryLutheranHousewife @Crux_Invictus "But if you really struck one of these fellows so telling a blow that, observed by the audience, he couldn't help but agree, and if you believed that this had taken you at least one step forward, your amazement was great the next day. The Jew had not the slightest recollection of the day before, he rattled off his same old nonsense as though nothing at all had happened, and, if indignantly challenged, affected amazement; he couldn't remember a thing, except that he had proved the correctness of his assertions the previous day."

@TheVeryLutheranHousewife It's certainly frustrating when you're arguing and it's just going around and around in circles with no one taking of ceding ground. I try to avoid it as best I can or just disengage when it becomes clear there's no convincing the other side. But it is good practice for working out what arguments work for what type of person so there is a benefit in our internet ministry.I just wish we weren't so averse to losing face or being wrong. There'd be less hellthreads and jewish argumentation but more meaningful threads.

@Crux_Invictus The frustrating thing is, I am willing to concede on many things and even admit to fault/be open minded to my fault in some areas when new points are adequately refuted, or accept my opponents premise and go on to explain why I don't think that changes anything, but this was taken as "patching" rather than extending an olivebranch, and makes the opponent think of themselves as victor of the entire thing something something arguing with an idiot like chess with a pigeonPerhaps that's just the nature of arguing on the internet, but idk, was annoying as fuck and insufferableMaybe I ought to have listened to the intention of Brian Niemeier's shittesting to begin with, and avoided those who failed it lmao

@TheVeryLutheranHousewife @Crux_Invictus The only thing to admit in this case is that you were kind of trolling him, and he reacted with autism, which was quite funny

@Crux_Invictus @TheVeryLutheranHousewife Have you ever heard of MICE? It’s the Four Motivators; Material, ideology, coercion, ego. When you learn which of these is motivating the person you’re talking to, it becomes significantly easier to understand them and steer the conversation.

@Crux_Invictus @TheVeryLutheranHousewife I've been interested in how Jesus would state something then end it with "those that have ears let them hear" or something similar. It seems to me we aren't necessarily trying to convince or change anyone's mind, but to make ourselves a beacon to attract other people of like-mind or good will.

@Anothrbrckinwall @TheVeryLutheranHousewife Jesus says it and similar phrases come up all throughout the Bible as well. How often it comes up when the person speaking knows full well the people they’re speaking to will ignore it.You are right in saying we’re called to make beacons of ourselves as Christ says when He talks about us being a City on a hill or lamps. But we aren’t meant to be only passive and there will be times when we, by answering questions or defending our faith, win souls for the Lord.“14 But even if you should suffer for what is right, you are blessed. ‘Do not fear what they fear; do not be shaken.’ 15 But in your hearts sanctify Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give a defense to everyone who asks you the reason for the hope that is in you. But respond with gentleness and respect, 16 keeping a clear conscience, so that those who slander you may be put to shame by your good behavior in Christ. 17 For it is better, if it is God’s will, to suffer for doing good than for doing evil.”1 Peter 3:14-17

@hourmutt @TheVeryLutheranHousewife Indeed, your husband should care very intensely about your mental health.
