People meme on school being useless at times, but I can't think of a single thing more useless than that. I've literally never wrote in cursive a single time since learning it

@ocean Do they not teach it anymore? I agree, learning cursive has just resulted in a weird mixed handwriting for me.

@AaronTheGuy I can't imagine they do? It's useless in the modern eraCursive is designed to aid in fast handwriting, but in modern times we have keyboards for that so it's basically useless

@binarycat I'm still shocked that my countries school system still taught something so antiquated all the way into the 2000s.

@ocean that's because our generation saw the explosion of the personal computer and the transition from handwriting everything to typing it.

@ocean i was taught cursive too, but I write everything in it to this day. It's always been a lot faster for me to write cursive then block

@0orpheus Yeah cursive is much faster than normal writing but typing is faster and more common than both!

@ocean fair enough. For me I've always found it easier to remember stuff that I handwrite rather then type (and there's some studies that back that up-ish) but I definitely still type more then I handwrite lol

@ocean The only thing I ever write in cursive is my signature. Everything else I use print because cursive doesn't give a shit about whoever needs to read it. Even someone with good handwriting writing in cursive is much more difficult to read than if it was written in print. It's just swooshes and loops ad nauseam and if you're trying to just read it really quick it can all blend together.

@0orpheus @ocean i prefer writing notes too but almost never do cursive. it's slower for me and far less legible.good for signatures though. using block letters to sign a check would be weird.

@ocean@raru.re it took me a long time to understand that america doesn't do cursive, where here writing in print is just weird and everyone does cursive without complainingā¦

@lucidiot Here writing is basically never done, or it's done as a signature. Sometimes smaller doctors offices will have you write your birthday and stuff on paper instead of on a computer or tablet but it's very rare to need to actually write something on paper

@Rasp @ocean The Mergan often uses it for fancy writing and when taking down notes. Cursive is faster than script, since ye don't have to lift the pen up.
