@RTP much ado about nothing. No evidence that it has ever resulted in.an autoblock or takedown notice. And unlikely any uploads have been thwarted. People recording cops either font care about copyright law, or know it well enough that they are within the law to upload recordings of public officials no matter what music is playing in the background.

@me @RTP Yea I hate it. Am moving my vds to peertube. But the article doesn't provide a single example of that happening for videos of police officers. If it did happen and YouTube ignored it, that would be worth writing about (and potentially class action suit material for lawyers and regulators).

@hobson @me yes, I'm not too sure if it has ever worked. But their actions + intent is obvious (and concerning if they find a way to make it work).I think the artist may need to file copyright in many cases.And thankfully artists as a whole are usually against police abuse of power.

@RTP @me Indeed! And fortunately is has the beneficial side effect that police are broadcasting their insidious intentions to any judge or jury that watches these #videos in court. This might level the playing field with a jury and give the person being unjustly abused by police a chance at #justice in court. Vice might want to focus their journalism on more harmful practices by #police such as racial profiling and stonewalling PD internal investigations.
