@fatboy my team has been using Passbolt (not least because it's supported by YunoHost; otherwise Padloc was a better-looking option worth considering). Not sure about what's best for personal use though; I go with Passbolt because it's already there but YMMV

@fatboy for advanced users: pass ๐ŸŽ‰does exactly what it's supposed to do and syncing can easily be self hosted as it's done via git.

@fatboy Had no idea about Psono. Bitwarden is really good, when you self-host it, making for most, Keepass a more convenient option due to being a local-only password storage database.

@fatboy I'm a little biased since keepass is all I've used and I didn't know the others existed. Also, I'm a fan of offline solutions because the cloud is just someone else's computer.

@fatboy that shell script you wrote 3 years ago that reads a PGP-encrypted file nested in a hierarchy of directories for classification that, though not perfect, every now and then you tweak a thing here or there so at least works for you

@fatboy I use KeepassXC and Pass, I keep pass because of integration with rofi and xdotool using rofi-pass and keepass is better for Android since the Password Stores which supported pass, hasn't been updated in a while.I sync it all with syncthing

@fatboy Iโ€™ve been really happy with BitWarden! It has good cross platform support and it integrates on my phone to automatically fill in passwords there! I like how flexible it is and how much control I have, and I like that I can add custom fields for things like API tokens or recovery questions

@fatboy +1 for pass. Just a frontend for GPG, so you know the crypto's solid and there is no overhead to duplicate things that basic Unix tools do better anyway.

@fatboy Vaultwarden (bitwarden fork). Easier to self host with all the benefits of pro bitwarden.

@fatboy I prefer KeePassXC because I think self-hosting Bitwarden is a bit overkill, just for saving passwords. We only rarely need to make changes, and I feel like that's one less thing to worry about (security-wise too). I use Syncthing to get my database synced across devices. Pretty seamless.
