It's like in the Netherlands they will defend Black Pete, but abroad they will only have a Sinterklaas but definitely no Black Pete "because it would be difficult to explain to people" 🤓 🙃

@TDovelle Well it doesn't really scare small kids as it's just super racist and kids as young six are subconsciously aware of it and use it against black kids. @LadyMont Note to self avoid visiting Netherlands during the mid November to 5th December :( The sad thing is there people out there who don't understand why black face is upsetting. I have had to explain to people why blackface is very upsetting to some people.I have explained to people that historically blackface was used by white people to mock and degarde black people because back then people didnt see black people as human. There is reason my generation living in the UK and America don't see blackface depictions on the TV. I don't know how works in other European countries. Actually when I went Italy I saw a blackface dolls in a market for sale I was shocked as it was my first time seeing such things. I had to do this explaining when explaining to people why I was so upset and disappointed in Justin Trudeau's black face, i used to love Justin Trudeau. I know people who support Trudeau.

@Flick @Ladyfat Oh dear! One of my Uncles was a Morris dancer and very committed to keeping the tradition. We had to regularly go to village events to support him although they usually got a lot of cheers and free beer without family support. I suspect my Dad thought turning up as a supporter with kids would get him a few free beers too! 😂 The group he belonged to did not do blackface but they understood why others did and as you say it has nothing to do with race. Traditions like Morris dancing are already rare and I hate that modern nonsense is increasing the threat.
