@gael did DuckDuckGo do it or Bing do it? I know, DDG doesn't like talking about the dependency, because apparently they don't feel like they can get rid of it..Next to this, i regularly see basically-manipulated results.. For instance right-wing talking points, lobbyists and software-help that borders on content-mill.(Altho less sure on that, sometimes the answers are actually fine?) I need to find another search engine..

@PhenomX6 @gael Any "service" that is owned by a company these can't be trusted, they get fucked by their government if they don't comply, it's freaking sad.That's why meshed services like Yacy is probably the only solution. Of course the solution turns to shit if the gov decides to start block or making it non legal to host one. That's why projects like gnunet needs to become better.

@verita84 @gael Not necesseraly a meme language.For example, people bitched for eons about gimp, how it wasn't changing fast enough for their needs, the same people didn't finance it. And so another software emerged, krita, and they trowed enough money on it to have more than one people to work on it, at full time that is, and they celebrate it as if it was an exploit.

@mangeurdenuage @gael @verita84 If Space Station 13 codebases and projects have taught me anything then there is no amount of money you can pay to anyone to code something if the shitty maintainers/admins of the projects decide to spitefully reject any sort of contribution of a certain nature just because they got into an internet slapfight over it in the past.

@joaopinheiro @gael @jasper These are just meta search engines that just repeat other search engines results. They provide you some anonymity but they don't improve the results, for that you really need non-sucky primary sites, like yacy or yandex or swisscows.
