@Ghislaine @watson semi related, but one of my theories about why there has been an increase in the amount of cancer in cats and dogs has to do with neutering them too soon. they are neutering and spaying as early as possible and i think its really messing with the development of the animals, the healthiest dogs and cats ive had were always the ones that werent spayed until they had a litter. by neutering before full growth maturity is achieved the animals arent getting a full flush of all the hormones etc that they should be. this "puberty blocker" stuff is essentially neutering these kids and stopping the development of their body and mind, which is going to have who knows how terrible of repercussions

@Ghislaine @watson im not sure, back when i was reading into this i was mainly focused on the effects of it rather than the procedure itself. i know for males they go full on because they are also trying to get rid of the associated behaviors that go with being intact. a big part of the problem is that most people can barely manage taking care of themselves much less another living being

@Ghislaine @MachineMadeDog @watson I had a male cat when I was a kid and I know my parents had him neutered, but I distinctly remember him having balls. I really don't know anything about how vets do it or why, but my guess is it's just easier to crop off the balls rather than perform a vasectomy.
