       If you ever feel bad about your code, Final Fantasy XIV just released a housing lottery system where they listed all entries in an array between 1 and n and had the lottery draw pull a winning number between 0 and n. The drawing happens once a week and is supposed to replace a highly competitive and controversial system.

       @smugsicco Rolling 0 means nobody wins because it's pulling from an entry in the list that either isn't there or is deliberately blankIf 0 represented the first entry rather than a dummy entry like it apparently did, it would mean that the last person to enter had no chance of winning

       @mrsaturday That was my best bet here but I tried to interpret it as "between 1 and n entries" and not "offset 1 to offset n" which wouldn't only fail on 0 but on n as well

       @smugsicco There were people that were the only ones that entered (meaning slot 1) that won so it wasn't them forgetting the +1, it was them forgetting to exclude the 0 from their random number generatorEither way that's shit you should be past by the time you're a junior in college or something that should have been caught in testing within the first hour or two
