       @celia no, we wouldn't. We're hosted on Masto.host so custom code is difficult from a hosting perspective.

       @celia Let me expand on what @kev said. We have no philosophical reason we settled on 500. It's the Mastodon default, and the configuration for that is not easily reachable. Because of that it makes it impractical for us to change it. If the configuration of the toot length was moved to a simple text box in the Admin pages we could update at will, I don't think we'd have problems with 1000 character toots. I don't think that Eugen has any plans to make that kind of change though.

       @mike @celia @kev I got @idanoo to change the one on mastodon.nz and seems it was a PITA, several places it had to be changed, and (I assume due to updates) it is now back at 500. So meh.
