@stux I'm the same. 17°C is about the most my heating goes up to unless I'm feeling unwell. And then people tell me I should turn down my heating, because they turned theirs down (from 22° to 21° or similar, probably).

@AngharadHafod @stux Seeing my energy bills for the past few months I regret not doing this. I also regret the two or three nights where we came home, put the heating on to 25’C to quickly heat the house up, then fell asleep and left it on all night 😅

@stux Since being on parental leave and having a 1yo to look after, I went from showering daily to showering about two or three times a week. 😱 I just find myself not having the time / energy 🥺 @AngharadHafod

@matt @AngharadHafod @stux I haven't heated my home in months. I highly recommend a heating vest (those things for old people/sore muscles, basically a wearable electric blanket). Mine is rated at 100 watts, which is the maximum amount of power it can draw at any given moment, and I haven't needed to use it on any setting but the lowest so far. Indoor temperature hit 15°C at its lowest.Imagine heating just yourself with less than 20 watts on average, instead of >2000 to keep an entire room at a comfortable temperature. The only drawback is being tethered to a power outlet, but that's pretty minor. One tends to get cold when sitting down for a longer period of time, and that's exactly when being tethered isn't a problem. And if it really is a problem, there's also vests that run on a power bank.

@stuxMaybe you already have it: a lowflow shower head with 6 liters per minute or less is a very good investment to lower energy cost. You can check your shower head by putting the water tap at max pressure (cold is fine :blob_cat_mlem: ) and fill up any vessel with known volume. If it takes 1 minute to fill 6 liters you're already set! Larger vessels are more accurate of course, 10 liter buckets work well and are common! There is similar stuff for the sink also. Happy saving!@matt @AngharadHafod
