@graf @Aqua_Legionnaire The movies are only remembered fondly because so many boys got their first wood watching them. I haven't seen them all and I am glad of it. I did read the books. They were okay but Discworld is the superior British genre fiction.

@Telvannichad @Aqua_Legionnaire The actual books, and to a lesser extent even the movies, are a lot more traditional, especially traditionally Anglo, than people would guess based on the frenzied libtard fans (or former fans now I suppose with the terf stuff) the British class system looms large and is not challenged (at least in the way current year progressives would like), jews (goblins) are gross and nobody likes them tho they let them handle the economy lol lmao, old traditions and institutions are all generally respected, the world is implicitly white, everyone’s a little casually racist, slavery of a lesser race is fine and doesn’t bother anyone except busybody women. The list goes on. It’s kind of amazing it took the terf stuff to get libtards to turn on HP considering what the source material contained the whole time.

@SerfnUSA @Aqua_Legionnaire The magic and worldbuilding is what bothered me the most, its set during the 80s/90s (UK goes CCTV crazy during that time) and yet their magic isn't instantly exposed with the populace so clueless about how the mundane world works. I always found the ways "secret" magic society in books stay hidden very interesting.
