The way that it is hidden and talked about makes it seem like the person discovering it is special and worthy, further inflating the ego. The book The Gurus, the Young Man, and Elder Paisios is a great book showing the difference between Christian humility and what the occult actually offers.

Most are not called to be a priest, and of those only a small % are called to be exorcists. Even talking about this is unpleasant, but I feel it's necessary given how wicked our culture is and how frequently we're starting to see satanic symbolism pop up. Many of us are where we are in our faith because we saw a lot of evil with a unifying thread of opposing Christ. Best option is to start separating yourself from the things of this fallen world, but in the mean time pray for discernment and ask your spiritual father for guidance on issues you're unsure of.

Many of the non-denominational "trust us we're NOT Baptists!" have a type of binary belief in faith. While I respect the simplicity, I can't practice that way as I found myself rationalizing my sins. My priest taught me that sin is like opening the window on a cold day. It doesn't immediately turn the house into an ice rink, but the longer you let that window stay open the colder your house (heart) will become and the less you'll feel God's warmth. Confession is acknowledging the window is open and the cause of the cold and asking God to help you close it. Such a simple metaphor that doesn't need pretentious apologetics or intellectual gymnastics.Demonic influence can be the rationalizing thought "it's not that cold outside. No big deal to open it for a few seconds. How about just cracking it open? Wouldn't it be great just to get a little bit of fresh air?" or harsher thoughts like "Smash the window with this paperweight for no reason!" but neither are what our soul wants. Recognizing that is very alien to Westerners.

The only thing that is needful to know, is that you must rely on Jesus for protection against spirits. And, when you combine that with, "we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.", it is needful to rely on Jesus in every situation xD

Oh you have a very pretty aura! Very interesting... Sorry, does the name [girl I had just started talking to who is now my wife] mean anything to you? I keep sensing it as we talk!" Some of the top people in AI had said it was more like “summoning” an entity than building/creating one. One compared it to Lovecraftian Elder gods, in that they wouldn’t be “evil” (outright deliberately malicious) but would be “indifferent” to humanity (and emphasized that was still scary/terrifying and dangerous).
