       @izaya it probably ONLY works with SPECIFIC version of Windows 95 and only 3 isa devices will actually work

       @hj probably q_qI think I lucked out and ended up dumpster diving one of like, two 6th gen intel boards with PCI slots, I doubt I'll be so lucky in the future. The only fuckin PCI-e cards I have are graphics cards

       @izaya @hj Firewire, TV cards, soundcards, IDE and serial I unserstand, but USB, Ethernet, and SATA? Is this because the mobo doesn't have enough of those, or do these specific cards have something integrated cards don't?

       @wolf480pl @hj I just always end up needing more of these than I haveCurrent motherboard only has 4 SATA and like 6 USB ports - currently using a passive port breakout from the front-panel connectors rather than a dedicated card for that, and I'm all out of SATA cards so I don't have an optical drive plugged in.Ethernet wise, my motherboard only has one port, and having two (or more? :D) is useful for debugging/abusing other physical machines or getting a dedicated link to a machine you're talking to a lot (like my main server).Also, why not include sound cards in that? :p Most motherboards have a full complement of audio jacks, why would anyone need MORE of them?(If any of the sound cards I had worked properly I'd actually have a full set of audio jacks, but here we are.)

       @izaya why not include soundcards?Because they can be fancy.eg. SB Live! 5.1 has a programmable DSP. Modern soundcards have neither that, nor a hardware mixer. They're just dumb PCM.
