Asking the Fedi:When you quit your job, is it then your job to find a replacement for your vacant position? Also, is it right that your bosses are guilt tripping you into doing so?

@fatboy in order: no but you can do it as a token of gratitude if the company was good to you, and no, heck no.

@fatboy Absolutely not! You don't work for them anymore, and it's your bosses' job to find someone else.

@fatboy um ... No? If they'd fired you would they have found you a new job? I'm a loyal employee. I show my company the same loyalty they show me: zero. "it's just business" after all. ⚒️

@fatboyIMO, it's your job to leave things nice for the next person, but absolutely no need to fill that spot. If you can recommend someone, that's a bonus.

@fatboy I'd do that if I liked my co workers and boss.In my current place I actually do. So I'd see if I could dredge up a referral before my last day that they could pursue or not.But you are not obligated, contractually -or- socially, to do so.Never forget that you are the important one in the worker-employer relationship. You're paid to do a job. If you leave and they have to find a replacement, that's the company's problem, not yours.
