None of these drugs are actually expensive to manufacture. Instead they gatekeep arguably more destructive drugs like methadone. Unlike troonery, the consequences of the drug war have been devastating to literally everyone at some level or another. Yet, this is unethical? Why? Because doing heroin harms the user? What about the countless people high-functioning people taking oxycodone every day? At least with BIID you can say amputating limbs is pretty hardcore, but so is cutting off someone's dick and using part of their colon to make a weird fucking hole in their body.Canada managed to do this basically overnight during the pandemic.

The pill mills weren't the start, and the streets were stealing pills for decades before this particular problem surged. But the real demand growth came because the doctors got people hooked in the first place. The street drugs filled the gaps when the doctors started controlling the amount they prescribed.

@crunklord420 @D00B @PunishedD @RustyCrab @s8n i think replacement therapy can actually work with methadone. suboxone is awful bullshit, and is so weak and useless to appease the FDA's prescription standards. methadone is much more effective since it's much closer to a full agonist opioid, but you HAVE to go to a clinic to get it, can't have it prescribed for MRT, and the waiting lists at clinics are huge. and nevermind the stigma in america associated with being on methadone, preventing people from seeking what is right now probably their greatest chance. it's also SO much safer today for addicts to be on MRT. let's be real -- birds fly, fish swim, addicts use. relapse is a very normal part of recovery, and having a tolerance with MRT GREATLY reduces the risk of relapse. i PERSONALLY know at least 10 people who have OD'd and died after being totally clean.
