Some idiots think they're clever taking 5000 units of vitamin D3 per day without medical supervision because some retard guru told them its good for you.It is, in fact, dangerous and may lead to hypercalcemia.Bottom line: if you do not have a deficiency, it does you no good and may cause harm.Don't be an idiot.Alternatively, be an idiot. We have too many in this world anyhow and may need a culling of the herd.https://www.health.harvard.edu/staying-healthy/taking-too-much-vitamin-d-can-cloud-its-benefits-and-create-health-risks

@Debradelai care to share where you get the info that 5,000IU per day is toxic? I found articles that say 60,000IU per day for several months can be toxic.

@Debradelai @Johnallen It used to be that idiots suffered the consequences of their own stupidity. Now, society seems to protect them from themselves with warnings on everything. WHY, I ask?? Don't fool with Mother Nature and the natural order of things.

@Dawnz @prchrskd @Debradelai In January my doctor started me on 10,000 iu of D3 daily. Not for any virus, but because my level is so low, and that's common with MS patients like me.I don't get outside very much to soak up some sun.I'm one of those people who will not take any supplements without my doctor's approval. I have enough health problems without adding more. The people that pop these supplements recommended by word of mouth only need to be careful.Do the research!

@Debradelai Saul, you are exactly right. I take vitamin D but under Doctor's supervision! Following the advice of some fool on the internet is not only stupid but as you stated, dangerous!

@Debradelai Thank you for posting this.I do take a high dose of vitamin D three. Calcium levels were high this last blood check.I was confused about it because I don’t drink milk and watch other dairy consumption.I will immediately stop taking it and just continue with my multivitamin. Thanks a lot.

@WheatGirl My mother-in-law was prescribed Vitamin D for low levels. The doctor eventually stopped it as her levels normalized. Her son who took care of her decided to give her more D later on. She developed the same symptoms I had with my vitamin D. Thought she was going to die and she was in her 80s at the time. He quit giving her the vitamin D after I told him I had the same symptoms and how stopping my vitamin D made them go away. Her symptoms then resolved. @Dawnz @Debradelai

@prchrskd @Dawnz @Debradelai Thank you that information. I appreciate it. I am scheduled to go to the lab this week for a check on my D level.Hopefully my level is closer to normal. It's always been low, but not as seriously low as the last 4-6 months.Crossing my fingers.

@Debradelai Family MD told me long ago...A,D,E and K are fat soluble. These vitamins in large doses can become toxic to the body. 🤢B and C are water soluble. What you don't use, you lose.👍Thanks for the link. It was a good read.

@Jaime With medical supervision, you can take another supplement to get rid of the extra calcium, making higher doses of D3 less troublesome.I could tell you what it is, but I loath giving medical advise. If you need the D3, your Galen cand make the adjustments.

@Debradelai 😂My GalenI’m a bit ticked. I’m going to rip him first. Of course in a nice way. I knew it wasn’t my eating. Never had high Calcium before. I’ll stick with this and my C. I’m going to talk to him, he needs to get with the program. High calcium isn’t good. From the article it does say D3 can increase calcium.Much appreciated. This is my multi.

@Debradelai At the hospital I had low D levels and was given 4,000 IU per day of vitamin D and Miacalcin injections to avoid hypercalemia. For three days. D levels were above normal after that, no supplements needed. Vitamin D capsules are actually not even easy to find here in Saigon. Plenty of sunlight and lots of fatty fishes to eat, go getcha some.

@watch4thedrop @Debradelai I took a prescription for D3 given me by my DO, it cost me 98 cents a month from my pharmacy for a severely low level per blood work... I have nearly never left my pharmacy when picking up a prescription without be asked if I had any questions for the pharmacist no matter how busy they were, I have had the occasion for to need information and asked to speak with the pharmacist, and have never been told no, I think we underestimate their value and willingness to help.

@watch4thedrop @Debradelai People taking high doses of zinc then wondering why they have an upset stomach all the time. I’ve told several people to cut it out. 15mg at the most is all you need if that.

@Debradelai Philipus Aurelius Theophrastus Bombast von Hoenheim, called Paracelsus, taught us that all substances are poison, there is none that is not a poison. The dose differentiates a poison from a remedy. The central tenet of toxicology.
