       @adam #podcasting2point0 Looking for some tips RE: podcasts 2.0 apps. I live in a rural area with poor cell/mobile coverage. I’ve stuck with the Apple app so far because it buffers/loads so far ahead which allows me to continue to listen uninterrupted whilst driving through areas of no coverage. I’m pretty illiterate when it comes to tech!All suggestions welcome. Please boost friends 🤙

       @Pasturepaul @adam -- Any way you can pre-download podcasts and store them on your phone?

       @Pasturepaul @adam so you've fallen to the streaming concept. podcasting isn't that. so there's a file for each episode. the podcaster generates a file called rss that tells your app what files have been made and where to get them. when new ones come out, the app downloads them. once listened to they are usually automatically deleted. so no need for "buffering"

       @Tankenator @Pasturepaul @adam Yes it's the theory of remaining an individual. So you can mow the grass and listen to a podcast, not have to rely on the devil's WIFI to be up your ass. You (or your app rather) download the .mp3 file (which is a "podcast" meaning "podcast" isn't actually a thing, it's just what Tankenator wrote).I still use Antennapod because everything else I've tried stinks and so does antennapod but it's open source I think.

       @Tankenator @Pasturepaul @adam Antennapod isn't bad it's fine. Just not great, none of them are I've seen. But it's free so that's nice.

       @Tankenator @adam thanks mate! It’s mostly for when new episodes drop and I’m out on the tractor or road. Also, my regular listens mostly download, but I like to try new ones out when I’m out and about.

       @TikToc @adam absolutely. My Apple podcast app was set up well for that. Since deleting it and trying to find a 2.0 compatible app, my download schedule is out the window!

       @commandlinekid @Tankenator @adam I will give Antennapod a go thanks mate! Been trying Castamatic recently, but I find the layout a little confusing.

       @Pasturepaul Not a 2.0 app, but I have been using Downcast ever since Apple split podcasts into a separate app (which did so MUCH less than iTunes).https://www.downcastapp.comIIRC, it does cost a few bucks but it works well for what you are describing. I have about 30 hours of podcasts I need to catch up with (even at 2x).

       @Pasturepaul @Tankenator I don't know how to auto-download only a-few podcasts with Antennapod.
