@Zonker I started with Manjaro a couple years ago, I ended up moving to Debian shortly thereafter. Manjaro was fine, until one of the updates completely borked the OS. Internet's reaction: you should have read the release notes, brah, and installed via blah-blah-blah whatever they said.So after that I went for Debian, the stable base upon which the most popular distros are built

@Zonker @Zonker your desktop environment (DE) is just as important as the base OS, especially when you're a fresh convert. Most Linux distributions come in several different variants based around different DE's.Here's my advice: find a video guide on how to make and boot from a "live image" of Linux, and then do a test drive with either Linux Mint, Cinnamon DE or Kubuntu, which is KDE Plasma DE. You'll probably like either one a lot. I'm a KDE fan myself.

@Zonker I'll add that the method I described is done WITHOUT installing the OS. You can boot from that USB image and jump directly into testing Linux. When you decide to install, you should consider that you probably want to dual boot (that is, keep Windows and install Linux on a separate partition, so you can choose either/or when you boot.) There are great guides on dual boot installations as well.
