       @becassine I've bought my own suburban apartment. But when I was renting my landlady was genuinely lovely, charged reasonable prices and decorated the communal kitchen and left chocolates for Christmas. I really don't get the hatred of landlords. Other than the fact that they are the only major monthly expense that isn't being taken by a faceless organisation (government or corporation). Landlords have a name and face so it feels more real

       @becassine @Publius Common land lords are rent seekers and rent seekers aren't people. The only reason landed gentry are acceptable is that they administer land at low prices to guarantee people have land to use.

       @becassine I understand the disdain for Slum Lords. But they are basically a non existent threat for the vast majority of people as they only have power over illegal immigrants who can't take legal action without exposing themselves to the legal system. Anti-landlord people use them as a strawman as it the Slum Lord is the norm.
