Why does our society put people who work in entertainment (i.e actors, musicians, athletes, etc.) on such a high pedestal? They are really bad influences and no sane person should ever look up to them.

@xianc78 because they are unelected officials, with politics you still need a bare bones approval rating a gaslighting system (see biden's presidency), but with artists there doesn't exist such baseline and the cost is often much lower than national propaganda effortsThat way you can spread ideology and control the people in a more subtle way before and after you reach power, same thing happens with news reporters and the like

@zemichi @xianc78 I was gonna say it really depends on who we're talking about. Those peeps do a shit ton of work. Sure it's for entertainment, but that is also contributing to society imo and in an important way.The shitty thing is that most of the people who do that are fucking retarded. Most of the people that don't are retarded too.I can still look up to certain musicians for at least their work ethic alone, and there are some bands like Skillet or Blue October that I really do admire.

@xianc78 Majority of people can't read out loud and have little to no public speaking skills.Combine that with actually acting, being able to keep up appearances, and not get caught saying the nigger word while simultaneously on several different drugs and alcohol and actors work harder than your average person.

So big business puts them on a high pedestal, and tries to influence us to agree, even though we're stabbing ourselves in the back. No sane person ever does look up to celebrities, but most people are in an altered state of consciousness because of the propaganda.
