Still waiting to see the autistic person who was never vaccinated. There are enough antivaxxers by now that statistically this person should exist, right?

@cjd I don't think the claim is "autism is *only* caused by vaccination" so that wouldn't be a counter-proof, would it?

@taylan I think "the claim" depends on who is claiming. But if I ran marketing for a vaccine company, I'd hire one of these unvaccinated autistic people to talk about the benefits of vaccination. Because, you know, it might not discredit ALL claims, but it would discredit a lot of them.

@taylan So, prevalence of autism is 1/44 (1), An estimated 0.3% of all children 19 to 35 months of age were unvaccinated. (2).It almost doesn't matter what the base rate is, 1/44 2.2% which is massive. This means there positively must be a significant number of unvaccinated people w/ autism, unless...1. https://www.cdc.gov/ncbddd/autism/data.html2. https://sci-hub.se/10.1542/peds.114.1.187

@taylan This study seems to show that they exist: https://sci-hub.st/10.1001/jama.2015.3077Which is a nice thing. I like it when it turns out that a conspiracy theory isn't true. Wish it would happen more.

@cjd What does that even mean? You mean not vaccinated for anything ever, or just talking covid-19 vaccines?

@dvn Against anything, there are like 0.3% people like this. But according to study (scroll down) some are autistic.

@cjd Also the definition of autism has broadened in recent years, making the "spectrum" pretty wide, so I don't think it would be difficult to find non-vaccinated people on the spectrum. I never thought the "vaccines cause autism" theories considered vaccines to be the *only* cause of autism, but I could be misinformed.

@dvn Yeah but I'm not gonna worry too much about maybe-perhaps-possibly, I'm more focused on the obvious.

@cjd I just have no idea what you're talking about, to be honest. I think you were missing some context in the top post. ;)

@dvn Kind of a brain fart:1. If there is nobody with autism who ISN'T vaccinated then that's a smoking gun2. However, there is, so there isn't

@cjd @dvn so you're saying that increased vaccination hesitancy might lead to less FOSS and trans people down the road?
