@IAMAL_PHARIUS Capitalism. Farmers have to compete with each other, pay taxes, compete with the rest of the world and especially corporations, pay for storage and transportation, have to hope for good weather, fend off banks and hedge funds, etc. And sometimes government decides that its illegal to grow/sell your particular crops. Sometimes its not worth to sell food and its cheaper to just dump it all.
