@Jaime If she used the raw turnips, she would peel and boil them separately and add them in chunks because they took so much longer than the potatoes. Sometimes she bought them frozen in bags and then added them to the soup with the potatoes.We ate a lot of turnips. And a lot of potatoes.

@timr I will try the turnips next time. Picked up two. On sale for 169/ lb. Total 4.87 and 4.17. ( corn beef ) The one I made today was 24$ and change.

@timr @Jaime Turnips are a highly underrated root vegetable in my opinion.....Obviously one's mileage may vary but I grew up on them too and like them very much.Might I add that after stewing/boiling/slow-cooking them, the leftovers are delicious fried? 🙂
