@StephanieAnneLR @waronmorons I bet the kids would behave better to! I taught all grades in both city and country schools. In the city schools, parents were absent, so the kids were undisciplined. In the non urban, well off areas, the parents were the problem. I quit 16 years ago. Mostly because the unions were a liberal mafia. Living by the sound of a bell also sucks!

@Zennblack I have a lot of friends who used to work as teachers. I even know a couple who used to be college professors. Used to. One quit to go live off-grid somewhere. The district my kids are assigned to was double masking for the 6 weeks the kids were actually allowed in the classroom - but it was for a total of 10 hours a week because the kids were only allowed to attend 2 days a week in order to social distance.I had to pay through the nose to send my kids to private school, which we gladly did. Not an option now. I will homeschool my kids.

The schools were shut down all last year (some were allowed back into the schools the last 6 weeks but only 2 half days in order to social distance)My kids private school pretended to be a daycare so they could educate the kids - I am eternally grateful for what they did, it wasn't easy but talk about dedicated! ❤️

I started as a tech and receptionist. It is the only way I could ever afford to have two dogs right now. Low salary but cheap vet bills...❤😁

@CDuBois Yeah, I loved their school but I wasn't thrilled with the concentration of affluence - it created a distorted sense of reality, especially since we chose to give our kids time and not things.The truth of it is, we are fairly affluent but chose to live in our smallest house (2 bedroom 1 bath, 4 people) to intentionally limited our kids exposure to having too much. We drive old cars. We don't have to, but we prefer it - and now we are free of so many burdens.

Teachers Unions have become too powerful and embrace the radical aspects of liberal insanity. The teachers union wrote a letter riddled with incorrect statements that the corrupt courts of Oregon accepted as fact. Our constitutional attorneys had gone to great pains not to do what the TU was accusing us of because we knew it was coming. In the end it didn't matter, courts threw it out anyway. The fight continues!

Let the individual states handle all the rest. If New York wants to be a nanny state hellhole and, say, New Hampshire basically wants to be an anarchists' playground, so be it. This is part of the problem in education. The "behavior challenged" and "special needs" exhaust staff. There is also integration of all students regardless of leading capabilities. This slows everyone down as well. There really are no more "special classes" anymore. Some of these kids belong in reform school! I taught many who wound up in prison for murder. 👎😢 Home school is the answer.

If we focused on actually meeting the needs of kids we wouldn't see this one-size-fits-all approach.
