I just love my job! I’ve been designing kitchens for more than 30 years. It just never gets old designing beautiful areas for friends and families to gather. This will be the kitchen and man cave in my Spring Parade home. I cannot wait to see it come to life!

@Kimy54321 You're so talented! A few months ago I was playing with the IKEA online tool for kitchen design and it was a lot of fun, although the software interface was a bit tedious at first. Once I got the hang of it I just had fun. I am looking forward to a kitchen remodel in the next year or two. Our house was built in 1999 and it is boring builder-grade everything! Little by little we are making it our own. :)

@NancyFancyPants The tools we have to generate designs are helpful for sure! I used to draw them all by hand! Get ready for a big mess when you tackle it! Also, make sure to have a contingency fund. Remodels are full of surprises!

@Kimy54321 We did a partial bathroom remodel a few years ago and it turned into a much more involved project than we had originally anticipated. We went over budget by about 50%.I am fairly handy around the house and am comfortable with power tools. I am reasonably confident I could do a kitchen demo and install, but the question is -- do I want to? I could do it myself but it would take several weeks, or I could pay someone else to do it and have it done in a week.

@NancyFancyPants You aren’t likely to encounter many issues in a 1999 home. Sounds like you could tackle it! I will say if you start moving walls and mechanicals you should involve a contractor.

@BleukittyThat must be quite a kitchen 😉! I live in a condo. The kitchen is chef friendly. My daughter’s is state of the art but to be improved upon. Currently I prefer cooking in my home. It will no doubt change after her remodel. They are still on the look out to buy but the two houses they fell in love with went to someone else. I found one of them &it was spectacular. By the time the bid was turned in it was over,we were devasted 😢. Mountains&ocean views plus a home to die for.💕 @Kimy54321

@cully45 Oh, I get you dealing with what you have. My hubby built this house, the kitchen is a great size the lay out sucks. So design was left up to her and she never cooked so did not understand placement/movement when prepping or cooking. He moved some cabinets for me, made it a little better. The only real counter space is far from the sink and across the room from the stove. Some of cabinets cannot be moved (sizes/layout). @Kimy54321
