       Tried for hours to troubleshoot my mobile broadband adapter as it didnt work, not even showing up in lsusb. Turns out a piece of those silica gel beads got stuck in my adapter's usb port, and the worst of this is that I got nobody to blame but myself for not using the plastic cap on it.

       @astralboy I have thrown my external Wi-Fi adapter out of rage a few years ago. The USB port was bent in a way that I couldn't insert it in a port. With a bit of effort I got to somewhat bend it in order to be able to connect it in a USB port if I needed it. It still works fine.
