Watching libertarians shit their pants because @DuckDuckGo has decided to deprioritize Russian propaganda outfits. As if search engines *by their nature* don't pick and choose what to show. That is what we pay them for! I use DDG for privacy, and this doesn't change that.

@billblake2018 But how will I get the daily dose of "conservatism" that will "save" the West if it is not from a real KGB agent who has spread his poison for decades over our heads?

Are you paying for politically motivated filtering?

@billblake2018 Why should they? As libertarians I imagine they should be in favour if business owners being allowed to make their own decisions about their own companies. Musk admirable stands up for his principles, but it is his company (Starlink) and he should be allowed to decide what to do and the same goes for DDG. DDG is a great balance against google & co. If DDG would change their stance to actively promoting russian news, I would definitely frown upon that, but still (...)

@OscillatingAgama I'm paying for accurate information, which Russian propaganda is not. Also, I'm not willing to equate the dishonesties of a murdering monster with "political".

@h4890 I don't see libertarians saying that DDG doesn't have the right to block Russian propaganda. The people I'm talking about are whining that DDG has no business making decisions about the content their business provides. They do not understand that there is a difference between blocking the propaganda of murdering thugs and blocking political bullshit.

@billblake2018i also dont understand people relying on one search engine for everything. i look to reuters rather than ddg for my news, unless i want a certain country's view of something then i look at national news agencies. rt.com is the top result on ddg when i look up "rt news" and sputniknews.com is the top result for "sputnik news"

@clayvaulin Right. DDG isn't going to be an ideal news source on something like this no matter what. Actually, I get most of my Ukraine news from twitter threads by experts on war and on Ukraine, supplemented by the BBC and other news organizations. And yeah, DDG isn't *blocking* RT & co., it's deprioritizing them. Those who want to pollute their minds with Russian propaganda can still find it there; they just have to either ask for it or look further down the search results.
