       @pavot @josias Atom and RSS are two web standards that does the same thing. Atom is newer (It's only 16 years old). It's better than RSS, but since RSS is synonymous with web feeds, people keep using it. It's kinda how podcasts is synonymous with audioblogs. People call it podcasts, even though they don't use an iPod.

       @hund if they're not compatible then my preference is definitely to have both available. I haven't looked into it at all but is there an obvious reason in your mind as to why Atom is better than RSS?

       @pavot They can't be compatible with each other for the same reason a .txt and .docx document can't be compatible with each other. With that said, you can use software that supports both formats. In the context of web feeds, every client supports both.Just search for "RSS vs Atom" on the web. There's not enough characters available here for that. :)
