@kev isn't it more like football fans? Fan A will talk trash about club b. Fan B talks trash about club a. But both expect and enjoy this. It is part of the game.

@kev haha, neither my fridge or TV run Linux! (Fridge is just dumb and TV runs webOS actually)But I can really relate to your point of view; most people are just computer users but some are enthusiastic about their OS. Too bad all the metrics I've seen don't account for that.And besides what you're referring to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather...:ablobcatwink: :ageblobcat:

@kev Linux users are of course those who use #Linux.But, rather than calling #MacOS users as MacOS users, I think it is more appropriate to call them as XNU users.And, for #Windows users, calling them as Winkrnl or NTOSKrnl is more appropriate.Note: I forget the name of the Windows' kernel

@kev I run Linux on my laptop.I also use Debian on my ChromeOs device (because Emacs).And after trying to write Clojure code on a Windows machine at work, I gave up and am now running Ubuntu under WSL-2.I think I am just as much of a Linux user on ChromeOS and Windows.Disagree?

@liberation I don’t agree. I think the only reason we colloquially called all Linux based distros “Linux” is because they all share that kernel and it’s easier to do.If there was a better term than using the name of the kernel, I’m sure we would use that.

@kev Well, we already knew the name. It is #GNU operating system.But of course, calling an operating system with the name of the kernel is also nice.#Linux, #XNU, #NTOSKrnl, #Mach are quite nice.May be it is a good idea to start a movement to call various operating systems with the name of their kernels.
