@WhiteBoyRooster you need lumbar support and your laptop should be a bit elevated. Or you could get one of those standing desks. I worked at one of those in my home office for a day and it was great! need a good cushion for your feet if you have to work dressy shoes.

@bulletsandbourbon Got a new chair thats good on lumbar support. Also got a standing desk with it. I concur. Those have helped tremendously. Now a cushion for my feet to go with my standing desk. Any recommendations?

@WhiteBoyRooster One of those bartender mats. the thick rubber things they walk on all day. Those are pretty good. Or I wear (and I'm old) Skechers with the dr. scholl insoles. those are great if you can get away with em at the office.

@penguin Just started doing weight training this past summer. I'm making good progress but not quite ready for deadlifts just yet. My goal is to start on those by July.

@WhiteBoyRooster I utilize a desk riser system that allows me to stand up while working at my desk. Sitting for hours on end stinks...it allows me to be mobile enough for flexibility without slumping in my office chair. Sure, I can sit and take a break when needed, but it has made a difference.

@WhiteBoyRooster @penguin Doesn't have to be hernia-inducing weight, start now. In July, you'll have built up a good base to start using the hernia-inducing weight.

@WhiteBoyRooster Work your way up from 1 minute holds to 10 minutes to at least 5 to 10 minutes holds but it'll take you time to get there if you have a weak core. I also work a desk job so I had a weak core and it was a struggle to do even 1 minute for a while but the benefits are OP. Better posture better balance less likely to have a lower back injury and improves your form for other lifting overall and it works your biceps ar the same time.

@WhiteBoyRooster If you have a kettlebell try this exercise. You want to strengthen your shoulder girdle and stretch your chest under load. Do this before rowing or deadlifts so that you aren't just adding weight to poor posture. It's a crossfit video, which is gay, but Jeff Martone is a great instructor. youtu.be/CSJufb9LaZw

@WhiteBoyRooster Kettlebells are great. I had a friend who had severe lower back pain from driving, I taught him proper kettlebell swings and he has seen vast improvement. Again, I would search for a video with Jeff Martone demonstrating. There are so many videos of people doing kettlebell swings incorrectly it's frightening. I also like them for goblet squats and to mix up different exercises (shoulder presses, curls) because it puts the weight in a different position which changes the leverages, etc. Good luck.
