@furgar If you watch Crowder&#39;s breakdown (not that I buy it 50%) Station owners only make $0.04 a gallon. So this would suck for the little guy, but I still appreciate the sentiment.

@BillHartnett @furgar In my area, a lot of the grocery store have been operating the same location for 30+ years. All of them in the last four months have done massive retrofitting to install glass doors throughout the entire refrigeration wall.It’s not because they have money available to upgrade. It’s because someone ram a cost analysis and realized the money that could be saved by conserving refrigeration could offset the need to raise prices on goods.No one wants to unnecessarily raise prices in a business that depends on volume. Most businesses aren’t the bad guys screwing the customers no matter how much the politicians try to shift the blame.

@BillHartnett @furgar Most of his staff all grew up or lived long term in the area. Word gets around.All that aside, Crowder puts together one of the best conservative comedy shows and that does take a crapload of work from him no matter what kind of help he enjoyed early on to open doors and keep things running.

@furgar @BillHartnett There is journalism as taught in journalism schools and journalism as it actually functions.Research practices collapsed when TV news made it impossible to wait until print time to actually check anything. This minimum quality level mostly held on until 2004. The arrival of Twitter obliterated what little was left.Today, the only thing that matters is being first. No one gives a shit if you are right because no one sees retractions on the Internet. Even if you want to do a good job, your editor is not willing to wait for you to actually check things. They will literally grab your shit out of the queue and fire it up.As long as it appears to confirm your reader’s bias that’s all that matters.

@altjohnny @BillHartnett @furgar Will state clearly: I know of *nothing at all* that is concrete.There was a lot of suspicion at the time because it happened suddenly when the show went through a big change. Neither of them spoke about the details beyond the marriage, but Crowder at one point had said something about someone hurting him or letting him down, and if I recall correctly someone pointed out that Jared had unfollowed Crowder on Twitter at that time. That kind of thing was rocket fuel for speculation.I don’t recall a public statement about it from either party that would confirm or deny. Even if something bad did happen, I don’t think either is the type of guy who would comment publicly about it.

I said that was a terrible idea because you don’t know who is going to be called a “Nazi” tomorrow – especially on the Internet. Never sold another story again when I used to make good money on large magazine spreads.I was already unhappy. They had already been rewriting my words to change the tone or misrepresent what I meant and printed it under my name without my consent. I was so mad that I let $3500 in checks go I cashed.Moved on to a new career. Honestly, it was for the best. Now I get to do things that make individual people happy instead of going to bed each night knowing I made the world a worse place.

I just had two bachelors degrees in different fields.For my current career, I found something I liked that no one was willing to do as a profession and which had no regulatory body. Taught myself to do the job and did it well enough to convince other small businesses to pay me to do it. Now I do that for my income and teach the skills I figured out.I will not give another dime to our broken education system to buy another fake title.
