@CSB Microphones have come such a long way since we off loaded manufacture to Chinese children...When I got into recording the only 'affordable' condenser mic was the AKG C3000 and even that was about £400 I think. It also sounded like shit. I got to test the Astons a while back and in isolation they sounded great, then went up against some high end stuff and there's defo a mojo missing but hey, they're £250 mics!! Fantastic value.

@CSB Horses for courses...The mic I'm most lusting over (and have been for a long time) is the Sennheiser 441, a very old dynamic model. Sound beautiful on the right source.

@CSB Most mics can sound very good if you know how to tweak the sound. Equalizers and filters can go a long way.
