Dr. Dominic Pimenta asked if I could share this. They’re asking for donations of medical supplies in the UK for Ukraine. They already have >£200K of diabetes supplies and are coordinating with President Zelenskyy’s office. Please help/share if you can.https://twitter.com/UnitedwUkraine/status/1499450093820432384

@aral Where do we donate to stop NATO expansionism that directly lead to this clusterfuck? Why are we donating to an autocratic regime just because it was invaded by a larger autocratic regime?

@djsumdogWell as much as I agree to disagree, I also see that NATOs existence has the downside that the EU never really wanted to have a joint effort to build up defensive forces. Would this have prevented the war? Maybe not. But I would feel better with it, instead of NATO.I do not see your point regarding regimes though. One has to acknowledge, that Zelensky is the first democratically elected president of Ukraine. This implies that many other issue are yet to overcome. 1/x

@djsumdogYes, there has been and is corruption happening in both Russia and Ukraine. But aside of that Ukraine has some independent media growing, Russia had cut it all down.Ukraine has oppositional forces building up in its parliament in the open, Russia has silenced them all.And I go with the narrative that this is Putins war and he is the aggressor in this play. Because when it comes down to government and political power, Putin IS Russia. 2/3

@djsumdogUkraines fault, which led to this war, from my point of view, was to strive to be like anx other government in the EU strives to be. Independent, democraticand pluralistic. This of course endangers Putins plans of having buffering satellite states around russian territory to the west. (See Belarus for reference) 3/3

@lazalatin Russia made the first punch, but the EU/NATO/US has been aggressive for decades. Remember in the 90s, Regan said Ukraine would not be a NATO nation. That promise quickly disappeared. As far as free elections go .. well .. free elections are a joke everywhere. Hunter Biden shows just how corrupt Ukraine is; the “10% for the big guy” shows just how afraid Russia should be for a US puppet state on its border.Ukraines fault, which led to this war, from my point of view, was to strive to be like anx other government in the EU Ukraine should have remained neutral. America sent dumb-shit Harris to Europe, which was pretty much a slap in the face saying, “We don’t consider you enough of a threat to send someone with an IQ over 80.”Would the west have led a first strike? You may want to believe “no,” but Iraq was a first strike. The Coalition of the Willing have no moral high ground; and we’re seeking fake article after faking article after fake article .. the Ghost of Kiev, the tank running over civilians that turned out to be Ukrainian. Russia has not cut off Internet in the country and is avoiding a lot of civilian target. They tried to get the nuclear plan to surrender, but it’s still insane to fire on a nuclear plan. The whole thing is a mess, but the US/NATO have no moral standing considering the past several decades.Putin is killing a lot of soldiers and civilians, and that’s deplorable. But I have no allusions that at some point, some operation would have happened justifying war going the other direction. The oligarchs that control Putin known their population is in decline and they won’t have an army in a generation if they don’t do something now. This is an insanely complex situation and assuming Putin and his controllers are insane is shallow. The only justification for military incursion into Russia is if it can somehow prevent China from taking Taiwan .. and it can’t. ALL of America’s effort needs to go into defending Taiwan.I know it sounds awful, but Taiwan is a national security interest and an actual, for real, free state; significantly less corrupt than Ukraine. It is also the path to Japan and South Korea, two other actual, for real, free-states. Taiwan (TSMC) is responsible for 2/3 of all our microprocessors and silicon (and the rest comes from Samsung and Intel). The US plants won’t be operational for TSMC or Intel until 2025, and if Taiwan falls, so does TSMC’s domestic operations.Ukraine has nothing as far as western interests. Just because they’re the most European doesn’t justify our support and defense, not compared to Pacific democratic nations we need to fight any upcoming war. The US doesn’t do shit about Uyghur’s, the atrocities in North Korea, Rwanda, etc. All the media induced fog-o-war against Ukraine is for a specific war no one should be fighting; and is mostly the fault of NATO being aggressive and not giving Russia an out.

@djsumdog @lazalatin I agree. Putin is anything but insane, and he has good reasons to fight back against the controllers of Ukraine. I have followed things in Russia and Ukraine for decades, and lived in Ukraine. Russian and Ukrainian people, like most citizens of any country, are mostly just normal people, but their governments have been perversely corrupt for as far back as I have seen in history. At Putin doesn't seem to serve the eternal European cabal.
