       @sprkwd They haven't fallen out of favor, but Bandcamp have somehow been bought or joined up with Epic games, and basically everybody is imagining the future where Bandcamp is no longer what it is now (and presumably something worse).https://blog.bandcamp.com/2022/03/02/bandcamp-is-joining-epic/

       @cstanhope aah, makes sense. They will probably change it. Interesting purchase from Epic though... I know they're doing their own metaverse so wonder how this fits in...I have stuff on Bandcamp and didn't even know this was a thing. lol.

       @sprkwd Yeah, it would be nice if Bandcamp had considered consulting with the artists that make their platform a success. Which I think is another thing that this move highlights for everybody. As usual, stakeholders aren't consulted. *sigh*

       @sprkwd @cstanhope The stakeholders were their stockholders, unfortunately. The structure that would make the musicians true stakeholders would be a co-op.

       @freakazoid True. I was trying to use "stakeholder" in the broader sense. Similar to what is described here:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stakeholder_(corporate)#Stakeholder_theoryPerhaps there's a better word than stakeholder in this case.Speaking of co-op, did you see:https://mas.to/@sprkwd/107893851414384856@sprkwd

       @cstanhope @sprkwd It was clear to me what you meant by stakeholder; I used the same word in an attempt to illustrate the way corporate structure typically ends up excluding the "real" stakeholders.I believe in free markets, but markets don't require the particular structure we give our corporations even if they do benefit greatly from having some kind of artificial entities whose liability is at least somewhat contained.

       @cstanhope @sprkwd I had seen that reply but hadn't realized that Ampled is a co-op! That's awesome!
