I've been able to get my hands on the #TruthSocial source code (they do have a link to it on their website, although their website is not accessible to me).They have disabled federation features. I absolutely expected that, just confirming it for others. It is just another walled garden.

@Gargron That's the ethics problem I have with developing for social media sadly or how my work could be used and even sued for reasons out of my control. At least it is limited to the US, another problem. I respect the 1st amendment and freedom of expression of US citizens, but as European, I don't really understand. Lot of the content stemming from it is clashing with my cultural values ( dignity for everyone ).

@Hyolobrika @Gargron Each countries and cultures have laws rooted their respective history. Hate speech is against the law in Europe, it is not calling for debate, it is illegal. I understand in other part of the world it is not but they won't hear me either in that respect. If blocking was the answer, would this post from Gargron exist ?

@Hyolobrika@GargronMore money but I think the key to killing big social quickly (instead of slowly as I think is happening) is big names starting federated services. This could have been that. Then Gettr and Parler federate to avoid losing everybody. Then Rogan starts one. And Greenwald/Taibbi. And other alternative media sites. Maybe FoxNation.social.If Trump hates Twitter like he says he does, this is a bigly missed opportunity.

With $1B in capital (https://world-wire.com/trump-social-media-startup-truth-social-raises-1-billion-from-investors/) clearly the contractor doing the “coding” (as in, tweaking the config a bit, running a bit of search and replace here and there) is living the life.It's kind of sad that easy money almost always means taking advantage of fools though.
